We have finally decided to go for a semi-monocoque structure that will be manufactured from composite material. Our base chassis will be made of a sandwich panel of nomex and carbon fibre. Also there will be support structures for the driver. These support structures will help to increase torsional rigidity of the car as a whole. Also the outer shell (fairing) of the car will be made of carbon fibre, but this part will not be involved in any load bearing situations so therefore it will be made from only 2-3 layers of carbon fibre. We are currently still in the design and development phase for our project.
